About the Area
Helper is a small town with a vibrant downtown of artist's galleries and other local businesses. Founded in the 1910's, Helper was surrounded by coal mines and was named for the 'helper' engines that would have to be added to the trains to be able to carry the cars loaded with coal over the summit to the west side of Utah.
Helper holds on to it charm and past with many original homes and buildings. It is know for being an artist haven and holds the annual Helper Art Festival every August. Through out the summer, Helper Vibes happen on Saturday evening with music and entertainment in the city park and down Main Street. Come November, Helper becomes Utah's Christmas Town with many events. A Craft Fair, Breakfast with Santa, and our amazing Electric Light Parade with brightly lit floats that ends with a fireworks display. The parade is usually on the first weekend of December.
Helper is located in Carbon County, Utah. About an hour and ten minute drive from Costco in Spanish Fork, Utah, 2 hours to downtown Salt Lake City and 2 and half hours to the Salt Lake City Airport. Carbon County is know for its safe neighborhoods, good schools, including the Utah State University Eastern, access to outdoor recreation, and clear blue skies all year long!
